Nahargarh Park was one of the few parks, that was chosen by the Government of Rajasthan to be the rescue centre and closed for a long time.

Recently, the government has started the Elephant safari in the Park, to support the eco-tourism in the Nahargarh park.

One of the oldest Zoos in the India, Ram Niwas Bagh Zoo which was established in 1876 by the king of that time H.H. Sawai Ram Singh-II, is now merged with the Nahargarh Park.

The Merger completed in 2016 and was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mrs Vasundhara Raje Scindia.
