Legend has it that the palace was built by Rana Udai Singh II, the founder of Udaipur, as a token of his love for Rani Ratnawati.

By Air: If you are arriving by air, the nearest airport is Maharana Pratap Airport in Udaipur. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a pre-paid cab to reach Roothi Rani Ka Mahal. It is located in the old city area near Lake Pichola.
By Train: Udaipur City Railway Station is the main railway station in Udaipur. From the railway station, you can hire a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to reach Roothi Rani Ka Mahal. The distance is approximately 5 kilometers, and it takes around 20 minutes to reach the destination.
By Road: Udaipur is well-connected by road with major cities in Rajasthan and neighboring states. You can reach Udaipur by state-run buses, private buses, or by hiring a taxi. Once you are in Udaipur, head towards the old city area near Lake Pichola to reach Roothi Rani Ka Mahal.
Local Transportation: Once you are in the vicinity of Lake Pichola, you can use local transportation options such as auto-rickshaws or cycle-rickshaws to navigate through the narrow lanes of the old city. You can ask the driver to take you to Roothi Rani Ka Mahal, and they will guide you there.

Roothi Rani Ka Mahal is a heritage structure which is now being maintained by the archaeological department to attract more tourists. It is a nice location to trek during monsoon and winter season when the entire hillock is covered with green bed and weather is pleasant for outings. During the tourist season when people come to visit Rajsamand Lake, the palace can be visited by walking four kilometers up the hillock.
